My story

In my life I've had the privilege of pursuing my passions. Mathematics was my first calling. I was introduced to the math I love in Grade 10 by a brilliant high school math teacher, Dr. Bailey. Every class began with a problem and an inquiry. Every class explored the problem and how to solve it. Every class ended in a crescendo - the answer!

Before entering university I took a series of aptitude tests offered by my local university to help students like me figure out a roadmap to my future. After a week of tests that were analyzed by one of the university's psychologists, I was told I'd make the perfect medical doctor. I guess the tests didn't reveal my dyslexia. I can't spell! Those long latin words were illegible, unreadable, and unspellable for me. So the frustrated psychologist said: "Whatever you do, just take an Honours program!". So I did. Mathematics was my choice. I've never regretted it.

Fast-forward several years ... my son’s girlfriend and future daughter-in-law had to take a university course to refresh and catch up on her skills in high school math as a prerequisite to her third year courses. She attended her first university summer school class in math, came home, and said to her mother: "My life is over!". Her mom said: "Call Gail".

Throughout the summer, my future daughter-in-law became more and more serious about understanding math. She was courageous. She worked hard, she wrote the exam, she passed! I merely prepared her for her challenge.

So began my career as a math tutor.
